Home / Pathway
From first kick to the next level
PlayerPathway
From grassroots to the big stage. A clear journey that grows with your child, from first touches at four to league football, leadership and beyond.
The journey
Four stages, one club
Players move through the pathway at their own pace. Coaches review progress regularly and talk with parents about next steps.
Saturday academy
Fun, skills-based sessions grouped by school year, with FA-standard coaching every week.
First league team
Join an AHF team in the East Lancashire Football Alliance League and play competitive matches with friends.
Develop and lead
Captains give team talks, players join the youth council, and older players become young coaches for the next generation.
Trials, scouts and big experiences
We help talented players access trials and higher-level opportunities. One AHF player has been scouted by Manchester City.
Dreams were made of this
AHF FC at Old Trafford
Our players walked out at Old Trafford and sat in the Manchester United dressing room. For children who first kicked a ball with us on a Saturday morning in Blackburn, it was a day they’ll never forget.

Opportunities
More doors opened
Spotted by Manchester City
One AHF player was scouted by Manchester City, despite only being able to train twice a week around religious commitments.
Blackburn Rovers links
Our Club Secretary is Blackburn Rovers’ Integration and Development Manager, which has opened the door to matchdays at Ewood Park.
Tournaments
From the Precision Pass Tournament to our own community tournaments, there’s always a big day to aim for.
Young coaches
Older players coach younger groups. Coach Kambo won Lancashire FA Red Rose Young Volunteer of the Year 2025.
Children’s University
AHF FC is a Learning Destination. Ask Academy Head Coach Hussain for your stamps.
Trips and memories
Like the Under 14s’ adventure weekend at PGL, celebrating ten years together.
Developing the whole player
Four corners of development
Our coaching follows the FA’s four-corner model, because great players are more than great technique.
Technical
Ball mastery, passing, receiving, dribbling, shooting and defending.
Physical
Agility, balance, coordination, speed and fitness appropriate to age.
Psychological
Confidence, resilience, focus and learning from mistakes.
Social
Communication, teamwork, respect and leadership.
Life skills
Growing up together
Not every journey ends in a professional contract, and that’s okay. We want every young person to leave AHF FC with skills for life.
- Young leaders helping run younger age-group sessions
- Support towards FA coaching and refereeing courses
- Volunteering experience for school, college and CVs
- Role models for the next generation of players
“Cannot believe this group of boys will be collecting their GCSE exam results tomorrow. Our first league team when they were 8 years old.”
